Let’s Go to the UK!!

 Project due Monday, Sept 14.

Class time is provided to work on the project--however you will probably need to work on it at home or during advisory as well.

Email blog link, Word document or Powerpoint to Amanda.hapgood@olympia.org

After the study of the UK’s geography, it is time for the final project—a chance to plan your own trip to anywhere in the UK.  Everyone starts from their own home.  We will use this exchange rate for the planning of the trip— ₤1 = $1.65
You will create a blog or PowerPoint travel journal discussing and showing where you went on your trip.  The blog or PowerPoint should have an entry for each day of travel.
 Requirements:
·           The trip must be 7 days in length—not including flight time to the UK.
·           You must arrange round trip flight to the UK yourself—include how you are getting to the airport as well (and home again).  Consider your budget—can you afford to fly from Peoria or Bloomington to the big city(like Chicago or St Louis), then take the transatlantic flight?  Should you find someone to drive you to the city (and pick you up)?
·         You will visit at least 3 different destinations—meaning you cannot just stay in London for the whole time—the point is to travel around the nation to areas that interest you and see the sights!  Everyone must spend at LEAST TWO DAYS in LONDON.
·         You will draw a Budget Card at the start of the activity—you may NOT go over your budget.  This monetary allotment is for everything—airline ticket, lodging, food, souvenirs, transportation between destinations and any emergencies that arise.
·         Chance Cards—once in this experience, you will draw a chance card.  You must follow the directions on the card without exception.  Just like life, sometimes travel throws you some curves.  The chance cards may include rewards or challenges to incorporate into your trip.

The requirements that you will turn in should include:
  • Flight Arrangements—print out flight “reservation.”

  • Travel journal in Blogger, Word or PowerPoint—create blogs/slides that show where you went, how did you get there, what did you see, what you do, where you ate, who you met.   Include how you traveled around the UK and where you stayed.   Include photos.

  • Reaction to Chance Card—write a paragraph about how you handled the Chance Cards.

  • Budget List of what you spent—add it up and make sure you did not go over your amount.
